School Summary
Colin L. Powell Elementary School opened its doors to a new and enthusiastic community in September 2003. In the short period of time that the school has existed, all members of its community have taken great pride in creating strong traditions and offering children a safe, secure, and challenging learning environment.
A dedicated and talented instructional and support staff focuses on each child as a unique learner and recognizes the strength in individual diversity, creating opportunities for students to reach their highest potentials. The school’s academic mission represents collaboration and a singular commitment to excellence, responsive to data-based instructional decision making. Learning is viewed as an interactive process, and students take an active role in identifying their strengths and areas of growth. Through differentiated instruction, curriculum adaptations and a broad range of learning strategies, all students experience success.
Colin Powell Elementary School has a strong commitment to community service. In an effort to emulate the leadership of the school’s namesake, General Powell, students and community take great pride in the many opportunities to share their many talents and compassion for others.
