School Summary
Lake Braddock middle school students are grouped into teams of approximately 130 students, in order to best support students as they transition from elementary to high school. Each team consists of one teacher for each core subject, a school counselor, a learning disabilities resource teacher, and a Subschool Principal. The team works closely together to monitor the needs and learning styles of each student on the team. Woven throughout the daily education of our students is the strong support from parents and the community.
Our middle school curriculum is designed to meet the academic, physical, social, and emotional needs of each member of our diverse student body. As a result of our multi-million dollar renovation, the program of studies is enhanced by state-of-the-art classrooms in which technology supports our commitment to academic excellence. The school houses a Gifted and Talented Center (GTC) and provides honors programs in the four core subject areas which include several high school credit courses in math. The special education program includes a full continuum of services to meet the needs of all students. Our ESOL program develops the English language proficiency of our ESOL student population through instruction of essential knowledge and skills in each core area at each grade level.
The elective program at Lake Braddock is extensive and expands concepts presented in the core classes by offering students opportunities for exploration in the fine, practical, and language arts. Also offered are a wide variety of foreign language classes for high school credit. The Middle School After-School Program allows students to strengthen their academic expertise, and to explore and develop new friendships, interests and skills.
The Lake Braddock community is committed to providing a safe learning environment where students and teachers enjoy their experience at school. Bruin Pride, our Positive Behavior Support (PBS) program, creates a climate for students and staff that focuses on respect for self, others, and property, and serves to reinforce our four core values of responsibility, commitment, respect, and integrity.
