School Summary
Daniels Run, a FCPS K-6 grade elementary school in the City of Fairfax, was consolidated in 2001 when Green Acres and Layton Hall Elementary Schools closed. Daniels Run is a technology focus school with tech labs for math, science and communications. We continue to value our close relationship with civic organizations, community leaders and neighbors in the City of Fairfax. Our school is part of the Fairfax Pyramid which focuses on supporting K-12 curricula to ensure smooth transition from elementary to middle and high schools and to prepare our students for the academic challenges of higher education.
Our school mission is to provide an inclusive, challenging instructional program to support the VA Standards of Learning and FCPS Program of Studies for all students. Our staff members work collaboratively to provide differentiated instruction to improve, enrich and extend student learning. We have three technology resource teachers, a fulltime Spanish teacher and a fulltime Advanced Academics teacher to support student achievement across content areas. We are very proud of our outstanding fine arts, guidance, and physical education programs as well as an array of culturally rich learning opportunities through field trips, guest presenters, assemblies and special events.
We celebrate and value the extensive cultural diversity of our families. We have an engaged, supportive PTA who make many of our special events, family fun nights, assemblies and before and after school programs possible. Our PTA welcomes new families and continues to be proactive and resourceful in supporting all our families and school community. We are excited about providing additional support to our families via our new Family Resource Center. The Daniels Run school community believes in the necessity of a positive, safe learning environment for each child. Staff members, parents, community members and volunteers support the values that help children make safe choices for themselves and exhibit kindness to others. Teamwork, individual effort, positive attitude and respect are all part of day to day life at Daniels Run.
