School Summary
Providence Elementary School is a focus school for math, science, and technology and is one of two elementary schools located within the City of Fairfax. This unique situation allows Providence to enjoy the benefits of both FCPS and the City.

The school community is proud of its diversity with over 50 languages represented. A parent liaison helps families understand the importance of the home-school connection.

As a professional learning community, Providence educators collaborate to develop and implement the core curricula of Virginia and Fairfax County Public Schools and share responsibility for student achievement. The faculty plans together to ensure that students experience integrated learning in language arts, math, social studies, science, art, physical education, and music. Learning experiences in the various labs relate to and enhance all curricula. The faculty participates in on-going staff development to share expertise and incorporate research-based best instructional practices. Teachers and assistants deliver inclusive instruction to all students (gifted/talented, second language learners, special education) using co-teaching and other collaborative strategies.

Providence educators set high expectations for student achievement and responsibility. They differentiate instruction to address the different needs of students in order to provide successful learning experiences. Many teachers are trained clinical faculty for graduate level interns with the George Mason University Professional Development School. The Providence PTA provides direct support for school plan goals, various program activities, as well as a variety of family fun nights.
