School Summary
Orange Hunt Elementary opened its doors in September of 1974 and is located in a wooded Springfield neighborhood. The school was renovated in 1998 and approximately 830 students are currently enrolled. In 1994, a partial German Immersion program was established at Orange Hunt. Currently, approximately 300 children participate in this program in grades one through six. The German partial-immersion program gives students the opportunity to gain a command of the German language while being taught math, science, and health during the regular school day.

The Orange Hunt school community embraces the philosophy of building partnerships among the faculty, students, and families to create an enriching and academically rigorous learning environment which supports the success of all our children. We incorporate the school’s mascot – the Owl – into our School Motto to highlight the school’s focus…

Orange Hunt School
Working Together
Leading Every Child to
Success!

The faculty and staff of Orange Hunt Elementary are dedicated to setting high expectations for students in the areas of academics, the fine arts, citizenship, and leadership. The school provides many enriching programs to support these goals such as a Strategies Lab, Art/Author Night, Math Night, band (with over 170 participants), strings, chorus, student-produced daily news show, Geography Bee, Peer Mediation, Community Coalition, Save and Drug Free Youth Club, Student Council Association (SCA), Math Club, Patrols, and literature clubs.

To enrich the opportunities students have to demonstrate their exceptional abilities as responsible and respectful citizens of the Orange Hunt School community, we as a school have adopted a school-wide focus on positive behaviors communicated throughout the school. The families at Orange Hunt Elementary greatly enhance the school environment through participating in special events, volunteering at the school, and supporting the school’s programs and faculty/staff. Likewise, a wide variety of after-school programs are sponsored by the PTA (e.g., Chess Club, FLEX, Reflections, Odyssey of the Mind, drama, Kinderchor, German drama, etc.) to enrich the learning experiences of our students.
