School Summary
At Cherry Run Elementary School, parents and staff members have high expectations for our students and work together to provide a positive and challenging school atmosphere.
Staff members use an integrative approach by coordinating lessons. The focus is achievement and excellence in all academic areas. Strategies such as individual and small-group instruction, team teaching, and manipulative-based instruction are used each day. We are a Professional Learning Community where all teacher team collaborate on student achievement. Cherry Run’s math program is particularly strong. Eligible students in grades 3-6 take a compacted math curriculum where they excel.
Parents take an active role in the school's programs. Student writing is enhanced by parent support in the publishing center. The reading teacher and the librarian collaborate to help teachers and students. The general music program is enhanced by Orff instruments. The physical education program challenges each student to reach new goals in physical fitness, game skills, and life-long fitness. The instrumental strings and band programs are popular and enjoy great success.
