School Summary
Cameron Elementary School serves students from a community of vastly diverse backgrounds, cultures, and economic conditions. Through this diversity, Cameron Elementary School students come together to learn from each other and to promote the school's theme, "The Quality of Future Starts Here."

The staff, students, and community share a common bond and vision toward building a school environment committed to academic excellence through a nurturing and caring environment that enables students to become all they can be both now and in the future.

Cameron Elementary School's curriculum is based on the FCPS Program of Studies and the Virginia Standards of Learning and includes a focus on the writing process, a hands-on approach to teaching mathematics, and an integrated language arts program that is heavily phonics based. This core curriculum helps students become better problem solvers, creative thinkers, and lifelong learners. Cameron continues to research and support new ways of reaching youngsters in their academic pursuits through various field trips, classroom technology and assembly programs. Cameron is proud to continue an active business-school partnership with the Women's Club of Springfield. We sponsor student teachers and student field experience activities with Marymount University and George Mason University. Cameron hosts a community-based early school intervention program that enriches and extends the students' regular academic year. Cameron also provides an after-school tutoring and remediation program in the spring, and hosts SOL Saturday classes to prepare youngsters for testing.

Cameron is truly a busy place with students who are proud of their achievements and who are anxious to succeed and enjoy their learning and school experience.
