School Summary
The faculty of Keene Mill Elementary School joins with students, parents and community members in exemplifying the school’s motto, Keene Mill—Sharing a Vision of Greatness! As a professional learning community, Keene Mill is focused on academic achievement. Committed to providing a quality instructional program, the Keene Mill staff is dedicated to an inclusive approach to instruction for all of its students that encompasses preschool through 6th grade, offering a continuum of services and opportunities that include a gifted center, English for Speakers of Other Languages, and programs for students with disabilities. This dedication to such a broad spectrum of gifts and needs is evidenced through a school climate that fosters academic excellence, creativity, respect of individual differences, and the development of positive self-esteem.
Technology throughout the instructional program contributes greatly to the ongoing development of a wide range of approaches to learning for every student in the school. Outstanding accomplishments in the arts, physical education and character education enhance the efforts to educate the whole child. Students continue to demonstrate the highest levels of achievement in the classroom and through their active participation in a wide variety of academic competitions and extra-curricular activities.
The Keene Mill PTA is a vital force in ensuring the forward dynamics of students and their families. Their active support of programs and initiatives, promoting the most positive learning environment possible, focuses on the celebration of the diversity of our community. Keene Mill’s ongoing business partnership with Airline Reporting Corporation has enabled students to be challenged while better understanding the corporate setting. This partnership, along with other neighborhood volunteer tutoring and mentoring initiatives, has provided enhanced support for individual student growth and development.
The challenge of developing and sharing the vision of greatness is a collaborative effort involving many in the Keene Mill community, and there is great excitement in the work that is done together.
