There are eight active honor societies, as well as numerous academically oriented clubs. The school offers a full range of athletic opportunities for males and females, and outstanding athletic achievements include numerous state championships and Coach of the Year awards. Annandale High also excels in the arts; its band has been recognized as a Virginia Honor Band, and it is proud of a top-rated orchestra and choral program which have earned the music department Blue Ribbon status from the Virginia State Music Educators. Annandale's outstanding theater program has trained students to take on lead roles in college productions all over the country. Award-winning student art work and photography are on display in museums and public buildings throughout the area. The student newspaper, the A-Blast, has been named among the top five in the United States.
