Since its opening in 1955, the school has maintained a proud reputation for excellence and is noted for its warm climate and strong community involvement.

A close relationship exists between school, home, and community. Quarterly plans and monthly newsletters provide parents with ongoing information about instructional goals and student progress. School staff members and guest speakers offer coffees and parent workshops on a variety of topics. Parent volunteers are involved in all aspects of the school program, welcoming visitors and assisting in the classrooms, computer lab, library, art classes, and reading resource room.

In cooperation with the home and community, staff members share the challenges and responsibilities of providing students with the opportunity to develop socially, intellectually, emotionally, and physically. Parents and staff members are strongly committed to continued excellence and work toward expanding and enriching the learning experiences provided for all students at Wakefield Forest Elementary.
