School Summary
Franconia Elementary School operates a modified calendar. The original four classrooms were constructed in 1932. For over 70 years, the school has been the center of an active community life with broad parent and community support.
The school's motto, "Celebrating Continuous Learning Focused on the Arts in Partnership With CALIBRE," exemplifies this school and community. At Franconia Elementary, learning is achieved through a balance of activities ranging from those that stress creativity and individuality to those that focus on learning basic skills and arts integration.
Students with disabilities receive special education services on a continuum within the general education or special education classroom based on identified individualized education plan objectives. Special attention is given to building a positive school climate through an appreciation of cultural diversity and respect for individual differences. Franconia students are exposed to many exciting facets of technology. The fully computerized media center, a state-of-the-art computer lab, and classroom computers offer each student frequent contact with various media options such as PC computers, laserdiscs, and CD-ROM. The widespread use of new technology expands Franconia's focus on developing critical- thinking and problem-solving skills.
The PTA provides a core of volunteers and many opportunities to expand and enrich the learning experiences of all students. PTA members also plan many events that promote school and community spirit. It is through the joint efforts of a dedicated staff and supportive parents that students learn to expect excellence in all their endeavors.
