School Summary
Fairhill Elementary is an energetic, family-oriented, academically rich and diverse school set in the heart of Fairfax. The Fairhill community believes that all children can achieve excellence in every subject when supported by a warm, caring, learning environment with high expectations for achievement and learning.
At Fairhill there is a strong emphasis on the home-school partnership to help students achieve their greatest potential. The Take-Home-Reading Program and Parents As Readers meetings involve parents in developing early literacy skills.
With a belief that reading and language are fundamental to learning in all curriculum areas, Fairhill provides integrated instruction in reading comprehension strategies with a focus on non-fiction reading and writing. Teachers and administrators collaborate to support the development and implementation of research based instructional strategies that enhance student learning.
With a full time enrichment specialist and exceptional teachers, students are regularly challenged to go beyond the required curriculum through projects and enrichment activities. Technology integration is enhanced by our state-of –the art computer lab, wireless labs, and fully connected production studio.
Fairhill Elementary enjoys a robust, involved and supportive parent community. The Fairhill PTA sponsors numerous family events and instructional initiatives. All staff members value the collective spirit of our community of learners.
