Program Overview:
K-12 World Languages
Students in the 21st century need to develop an ability to communicate, collaborate and problem solve with people who speak other languages and come from other cultures. The purpose of the Fairfax County Public Schools (FCPS) World Languages Program is to ensure that FCPS students will graduate with communicative competence after a continuous sequence of language instruction beginning in elementary school. The K-12 world languages program includes the Foreign Language in the Elementary Schools Program (FLES), Immersion Programs, Middle School Immersion Transition Programs, secondary language programs (grades 7-12), as well as the Credit Exam Program for World Languages.
