West Potomac Academy Fashion Design Students to Participate in Crystal Couture Fashion Event
West Potomac Academy Fashion Design students will participate in the fifth annual Crystal Couture fashion event February 5-9, from 6 to 10 p.m. each evening. West Potomac Academy is one of six high school academies in Fairfax County Public Schools (FCPS).
Each night, current and former West Potomac Academy Fashion Design students will showcase runway collections alongside several professional designers. Behind the scenes, students will be working with designers, styling models, and assisting with event production. Students will also have a boutique display area to sell their T-shirt collection and original garments, proceeds from which will benefit the Fashion Design program.
The event is free and open to the public. Crystal Couture offers nightly runway shows and high-end bargain trunk sales from more than 40 metropolitan area boutiques and designers. Shoppers can enjoy free make-up and hair makeovers, chats with wardrobe stylists, and music from DJ Neekola.
West Potomac Academy Fashion Design courses prepare students to work in the fashion industry by developing the technical, creative, and knowledge-based skills they need to cultivate design ideas, create garments, and present their own fashion lines. These skills will enable students to understand the fashion industry and career opportunities being offered in the field of fashion design.
Crystal Couture is sponsored by the Crystal City Business Improvement District, a public-private partnership established to promote the Crystal City business, retail, restaurant, and residential community. The event will be held on the top floor of 251 18th Street, Arlington. Metro riders should take the Crystal City station on the blue or yellow lines.
