Marshall High School DECA Hosts Craving Savings Activities to Promote Financial Literacy

To promote financial literacy, Marshall High School’s DECA chapter is hosting several I’m Craving Savings events during the week of November 26-30 at the school and on Saturday, January 5, 2013 at the Dolley Madison Library

On Tuesday, November 27, DECA invites Marshall students to “Show Me the Money!” During lunch sessions (11:07 a.m. to 1:20 p.m.), students can answer financial literacy trivia questions for a chance to grab their own cash in a Money Machine.

Throughout the week, marketing teachers will incorporate financial literacy lessons about banking, savings, and investing in their classes.

On Saturday, January 5, 2013, DECA invites the community to learn how to teach children about financial literacy during a presentation by Amy Monlezun of Navy Federal Credit Union. The presentation is scheduled for 2:30 to 3:30 p.m. at the Dolley Madison Library. Citizens planning to attend are asked to RSVP by contacting Jen Hendrickson at

Updates on the project will be posted on Twitter; follow  @cravingsavings1.
