FCPS Included in Computerworld's 100 Best Places to Work in Information Technology for 2012

Fairfax County Public Schools (FCPS) has been named one of the 100 Best Places to Work in Information Technology (IT) for 2012 by IDG’s (International Data Group) Computerworld. FCPS was cited for its commitment to training—particularly the Leadership Development Cohort, a district-wide program that ties the instructional and IT worlds into a cohesive whole—as an exemplary program. This is the fourth year that FCPS has been selected for this honor; it is the only K-12 school system- to make the list.

More than 400 FCPS employees work in IT on projects and services that include supporting over 131,000 computers; maintaining FCPS 24-7 Learning; producing Fairfax Network distance learning multimedia programming; conducting eLearnIT online training for FCPS staff members; maintaining FCPS eCART, the electronic curriculum assessment resource tool that enables online curriculum and formative assessment for students and teachers; and supporting library and emergency response systems.

The 100 Best Places to Work in Information Technology ranks the top 100 work environments for technology professionals, based on a comprehensive questionnaire regarding company offerings in categories such as benefits, diversity, career development, training, and retention. More information about the list is available at www.computerworld.com.
