Fairfax County School Board Extends Deadline for FPAC Applicants

The Fairfax County School Board has extended the deadline for applications to fill three vacancies on the Facilities Planning Advisory Council (FPAC) to Monday, June 25. The School Board is seeking applicants for a representative for the Sully District, a representative for the Springfield District, and for an at-large position.

  • To be eligible for the Sully position, you must be a resident of the Sully magisterial district.
  • To be eligible for the at-large position, you must be a resident of Fairfax County.
  • To be eligible for the Springfield position, you must be a resident of the Springfield magisterial district.

The School Board established FPAC in 2010 to advise the Board and staff to develop comprehensive, long-term plans for Fairfax County Public Schools (FCPS) facility needs. Among the issues council members will be considering are school program capacity, transportation and operating efficiencies, financing and construction strategies, school renovations and closures, and planning for new buildings and boundaries.

The application form and more information about FPAC and member responsibilities are available at http://www.fcps.edu/fts/planning/fpac/index.shtml.
