Monday, June 11, 2012 FCPS Marketing Advisory Board Sponsors Golf Tournament to Benefit Marketing Students The Fairfax County Public Schools (FCPS) Marketing Advisory Board will host a golf tournament at 8 a.m. on Thursday, June 21, at Virginia Oaks Golf Course in Gainesville. Funds generated from the tournament will support a scholarship program that benefits FCPS marketing students. Prizes will be provided to the competitor who makes the longest drive, who lands closest to the pin, and who wins a putting contest. There will also be a basket raffle and silent auction. Packages include cart and greens fees, on-course beverages, a continental breakfast, and lunch. Fees are $140 for a single player, $260 for two players, $520 for a foursome; silver, gold, and platinum packages are also available. The FCPS Marketing Advisory Board is a committee of local business people who assist FCPS in curriculum development for the marketing program and who encourage and recognize excellence in student achievement. The Marketing Advisory Board sponsors an annual scholarship program for high school students wishing to pursue marketing studies in college. Over the past 13 years, over $214,000 was distributed to qualified high school seniors through the scholarship program. In addition, funds may also be used to recognize student accomplishments and achievements as well as support other student activities as needed. ###
