Thursday, March 15, 2012 Fifteen FCPS Students National Awards in Scholastic Art Awards Competition Fifteen Fairfax County Public Schools (FCPS) students have received national medals for their entries in the 2012 Scholastic Art Awards sponsored by the Alliance for Young Artists and Writers. Two students earned Gold Awards; 14 students earned 15 Silver Medals. Gold Award winners from FCPS are: · Centreville High School: Ha Min Chung, Digital Art.
· Stuart High School: Ryan Mioduski, Sculpture.
Silver Award winners are: · Chantilly High School: Caitline Kwon, Printmaking.
· Centreville High School: Ashley Frongello, Sculpture, and Min Kyong Han, Sculpture.
· Fairfax High School: Sejin Park, Art Portfolio.
· Lake Braddock Secondary School: Lauren Kristin, Photography and Photography Portfolio; and Austyn Ries, Photography.
· Lee High School: Erin Williams, Photography.
· Marshall High School: Amir Noorbakhsh, Art Portfolio, Silver with distinction; and Sunhong Park, Photography.
· South County Secondary School: Hope Hellwege-Bales, Photography.
· Stuart High School: Ryan Mioduski, Art Portfolio.
· Westfield High School: Olivia Bodor, Painting; and Masie Chong, Photography Portfolio, Silver with distinction.
· Woodson High School: Angelina Namkung, Art Portfolio, Silver with distinction.
National awards were given to 1,500 artists and writers from over 200,000 entries nationwide. National award winners and their teachers will be honored at an awards ceremony at Carnegie Hall in New York City on June 1. For additional information, visit http://www.artandwriting.org/. ###
