New Turf Field at Jackson Middle School to be Celebrated During Ribbon Cutting Ceremony
A ribbon cutting ceremony to celebrate the installation of a new artificial turf field at Jackson Middle School will be held on Saturday, September 17, at 8 a.m. Jackson Middle School is a Fairfax County public school.
The artificial turf field at Jackson was funded through a partnership comprising the Fairfax County School Board, Fairfax County Public Schools (FCPS), the Fairfax County Board of Supervisors and Providence District representative Linda Q. Smyth, the Fairfax County Park Authority, and Fairfax County Neighborhood and Community Services.
The new field, which will be used by both students and community members, meets regulation size requirements for football and soccer. The addition of the artificial turf field at Jackson brings to 14 the number of artificial turf fields in FCPS. Schools with existing artificial turf fields include Bailey’s Elementary School for the Arts and Sciences, Hutchison Elementary School, Sandburg Middle School, and Chantilly, Fairfax, Herndon (two fields), Lee, Madison, Marshall (two fields), West Springfield, and Westfield High Schools.
