Oakton High Invites Military Personnel to Military Appreciation Night October 29

Oakton High School invites all active, retired, and reserve military personnel from the Oakton, Robinson, and Langley communities to Military Appreciation Night on Friday, October 29, for its home game against Robinson Secondary School. The first 100 persons with a valid military identification will be admitted free and given a coupon to use at the concession stand. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.

Prior to the game, the PFC David Sharrett II Memorial Scholarship will be awarded. The scholarship honors the memory of David Sharrett II, a 1999 Oakton graduate who played defensive end on the school’s football team, who was killed in Iraq in 2008 while serving with the U.S. Army’s 101st Airborne Division.

In addition, there will be a ceremony at halftime to honor members of the military for their service to the country. Military personnel are asked to assemble at the flagpole with four minutes left in the second quarter for recognition at the beginning of halftime.

Note: Oakton High School is located at 2900 Sutton Road in Oakton. For more information, contact Hilary Cole at or Sally Goins at
