Fairfax County School Board Grants Two Early Release Days to Staff Members

The Fairfax County School Board has voted to grant two additional early release workdays to staff members and students—December 23, 2009 and May 28, 2010—during the 2009-10 school year.

“This is one small way that the School Board can recognize employees’ sacrifices in a year of staff reductions, increases in class size, and frozen salaries,” said Dan Storck, Fairfax County School Board chair.

The early release days will provide staff members and students with an early start to the winter break and the Memorial Day weekend. Principals and program managers will have the authority to release instructional and support personnel where program operations permit.

Parents should make appropriate child-care arrangements for these early release days.
