Chantilly, Langley, TJHSST Students Win National Quill and Scroll Awards
Students from three Fairfax County high schools have been named National Award Gold Key winners in contests sponsored by Quill and Scroll, the International Honor Society of High School Journalists.
Chantilly High School student journalists Erin Fisher, Cali Schriver, Stephanie Smith, and Katie Urban were named national winners in the 2008 Yearbook Excellence Contest. The four Chantilly students were the only winners in the yearbook category in Virginia.
In the American Society of Newspaper Editors and Quill and Scroll 2008 International Writing and Photo Contest, Meghan Gaffney of Langley High School was named a winner for her Editorial Cartoon. Karl Sofinowski of Thomas Jefferson High School for Science and Technology (TJHSST) was named a winner in the Editorial Cartoon category, and Lisa Kong of TJHSST was named a winner in the Sports Photo category. The three Fairfax County Public Schools (FCPS) students were the only winners from Virginia in the writing and photo contest.
